Emergency Management Coordination Cell (EMCC)

The EMCC provides VA the planning, logistical and expert guidance to support continuity of care and 4th mission assignments resulting from emergency events and disasters.

The EMCC's overall roles and responsibilities include the following:

Developing and maintaining situational awareness to support decision making at all levels within VA, VHA, and local VHA health care facilities
Sharing information with internal and external partners
Process requests for resources and assistance from VA and non-VA organizations
Deploying VHA resources such as DEMPS personnel and other OEM assets

The EMCC is the mechanism by which VA's Under Secretary for Health coordinates response and recovery activities. EMCC membership includes VHA executive leadership and representatives from more than 20 other VHA national program offices supporting emergency management and continuity of patient care.
