Whole Health 102 & 202 Train the Trainer Course

Online (TMS 43058) – 60 Minutes

This one-hour virtual learning course is for Facility Education Coordinators, Whole Health Coordinators, Whole Health Faculty, physicians, pharmacists, psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, nurses, psychologists, healthcare executives, social workers, counselors, dentists and other healthcare professionals. This Train the Trainer module offers tools and tips helpful to faculty facilitating the Whole Health 102 and 202 courses. The document prepares individuals to facilitate Whole Health 102 and 202 as part of foundational educational efforts to support a Whole Health Model of Care.

The course provides CME credit; ACCME for physicians and ACCME – NP for non-physicians, American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) for nurses, Accreditation Council for Pharmacy (ACPE) for pharmacists, American Dental Association (ADA) for dentists, Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) for dieticians, American Psychological Association (APA) for psychologists, Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) for social workers, National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) for counselors and Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education (JA IPCE).

 

Whole Health for Mental Health and Well-being

Online (TMS 41734 and TRAIN 1092555) – 60 minutes

This one-hour virtual learning course is for clinical staff, including licensed and non-licensed interested in learning about crossing the Mind-Body divide. This course provides an overview that shifts the perspective away from mind-body dualism and toward a system of care where mental health is seamlessly incorporated as a core aspect of whole-person care. The course highlights the connections between mental health and each of the components of the Circle of Health, including mindful awareness and the various aspects of self-care.

This one-hour virtual learning course is for clinical staff, including licensed and non-licensed staff, to address the burnout epidemic in medicine. Clinician self-care is a critical component of the WH model.  This course explores the challenges clinicians face, helps clinicians connect their health and well-being to that of their patients, explores how to assess and enhance self-care and resilience, and includes training on completing your own Personal Health Plan.

The course provides Category 1 AMA Physicians Recognition Award™ CME credit; ACCME for physicians and ACCME – NP for non-physicians, American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) for nurses, and Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education (JA IPCE).

Whole Health Nutrition and Pain Management: Tools for Providers

Online (TMS 42449 and TRAIN 1095076) – 60 minutes

This one-hour virtual learning course is for all clinicians who care for veterans in pain. This knowledge-based virtual activity is intended for Primary Care, Pain Management, Physical Medicine, Neurology, Orthopedics, Rheumatology, and any other providers seeking nonpharmacologic tools for pain management. It is designed to give providers without extensive nutrition training both theoretical background and practical tools for incorporating nutrition as a tool for pain management, and recommendations for collaborating with nutrition professionals.

The course provides Category 1 credit:  Joint Accreditation for Inter-professional Continuing Education (JA IPCE)- ACCME for physicians and ACCME – NP for non-physicians, American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) for nurses; 1 contact hour: Accreditation Council for Pharmacy (ACPE) for pharmacists and American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) for Physical Therapists and Physical Therapy Assistants; 1 Level 1 CPEU: American Dental Association (ADA) for dentists.

 

Introduction to Complementary and Integrative Approaches

Online (TMS 29890 and TRAIN 1069357) - 60 minutes

This one-hour virtual learning course is for clinical staff, including licensed and non-licensed staff, to focus on the complementary and integrative health (CIH) side of the Whole Health model. This course helps clinicians explore how complementary approaches fit, or don't fit, into their practice, offers an introductory CIH overview, and teaches how to consider CIH approaches in an evidence-informed Personal Health Plan.

The course provides Category 1 AMA Physicians Recognition Award™ CME credit; ACCME for physicians and ACCME – NP for non-physicians, and American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) for nurses.

 

Mindful Awareness 

Online (TMS 31300 and TRAIN 1070567) - 60 minutes

This one-hour virtual learning course is for clinical staff, including licensed and non-licensed staff, to help participants explore and experience mindful awareness and learn its benefits for patient health outcomes, as well as their own well-being. Clinicians will learn how to describe Mindful Awareness and its use within VA, explore the research regarding Mindful Awareness, and how to develop a plan to incorporate Mindful Awareness into daily routine and practice.

The course provides Category 1 AMA Physicians Recognition Award™ CME credit; ACCME for physicians and ACCME – NP for non-physicians, and American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) for nurses.

 

Whole Health Foundation: A Personal Experience

Online (TMS 41929) - 60 minutes

The purpose of this knowledge-based educational web course is to provide foundational knowledge about Whole Health by creating a personal experience for participants.

Orientation to the Whole Health Pathway

Online (TMS 4309) – 120 minutes

The purpose of this knowledge based enduring course is to orient students to the Whole Health Pathway. Students have not been trained on this video-based material previously. After completion of the videos and post-test students will gain essential knowledge for practicing Whole Health methods in improving competence in offering Veteran and Employee Care.

Students who complete this course will resolve the learning/knowledge gap of not possessing essential knowledge of the Whole Health system and the Whole Health Pathway as used in the Veterans Health Administration.

Facilitation Tips and Techniques for Delivering Taking Charge of My Life and Health

The purpose of this knowledge-based educational web course is to provide facilitation tips and techniques for delivering the Taking Charge of My Life and Health peer-led group (often led by Whole Healthy Partners, Whole Health Coaches, Veteran volunteers, etc.). These techniques will help address training gaps and were designed to augment and provide for opportunities to practice the skills developed in the in-person course, Whole Health Facilitated Groups. The course refreshes skills and proposes ideas on how to overcome challenges that may arise during group facilitation.

There are NO accreditation organizations for this course.

 

Eating for Whole Health: Functional Approaches to Food and Drink

This two-hour virtuial learning course is designed to introduce VA clinicians to the Whole Health approach as it relates to a fundamental aspect of self-care – nutrition. It is informed by the latest research in nutrition and is designed for clinicians who are likely to incorporate nutrition recommendations into Veterans' Personal Health Plans.

Whole Health for Pain and Suffering Video Series

These one-hour virtual learning videos expose VA clinicians to a Whole Health approach to pain and suffering using complementary and integrative therapies.
