Mac
Mac served a combat deployment to Iraq as a Corporal in the Marine Corps. He separated from military service after his deployment and went back to school on the post-9/11 GI Bill. He graduated from Temple University with a degree in Film and Media, and he does some contract work in the local Philadelphia area film industry. He currently works as a claims assistant for the Philadelphia VA. He received positive feedback from family and friends who saw the exhibit From War to Home. Mac bought a house and is enjoying fixing it up in his spare time; he is also active in his local VFW.

![I play them [video games] because I’m angry. I take out all my frustrations on video games instead of me flipping out. So I’ll play the game and yell at people in the headset instead of yelling at people in real life... I’ve got a problem dealing with people now. [T]hey really irritate me...[so] I play that [game] for about an hour or two, instead of flipping out.](img/vets/vet_mac_videogame.jpg)
![[This] is a picture of my cover from the VFW; I’m pretty active in it now. I have been in the VFW for about four years now… I’ll be with the older guys, telling me stuff they’ve been through, and it puts things in perspective. But they tell you, “yeah, it doesn’t get better.” It still affects them; some of the guys have been there [at the VFW] since WWII, and are saying that combat was just like yesterday.](img/vets/vet_mac_vfwhat.jpg)

![I was driving home from school, and this is the most stressful part of my day. I hate driving. I guess getting stuck in traffic can drive me crazy because I searched cars [in Iraq], and when the cars stop, it scares me like crazy…When cars stall, it scares me because I think they’re going to explode or whatever.](img/vets/vet_mac_traffic.jpg)
![That’s my camera…I’m a film student and I like to take pictures and film stuff, and I just got the camera a couple weeks ago… I wanted to write books, and I took some writing classes, then took a screen-writing class. I was going to try something different, [so] then I took an acting class. I liked the acting class, and then I took a directing class, and [liked] working with the cameras. It kind of stuck with me.](img/vets/vet_mac_camera.jpg)
![This is my daypack. I’ve been carrying that thing around for about two years. I actually found a daypack like one I used to have [in Iraq]. I got it at a flea market, and I always take it with me whenever I go to school or stuff like that. It reminds me of my old day pack; it reminds of where I was, where I came from.](img/vets/vet_mac_daypack.jpg)
