Research Interest

Dr. Hinrichs completed her Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) at Northwestern University in 2008. She is a board-certified orthopedic specialist and completed her residency training at Temple University in 2013. Dr. Hinrichs’s clinical experience has primarily been in outpatient settings working with patients with a variety of orthopedic health conditions.

From 2015-2019, she worked as a Senior Clinical Instructor for the Physical Therapy Program at the University of Colorado teaching musculoskeletal and professional development courses. She began her PhD training in Rehabilitation Science at the University of Colorado in 2019, graduating in the fall of 2023. She is currently an Advance Research Fellow in the Eastern Colorado VA Healthcare System Geriatrics, Research, Education and Clinical Center (GRECC). During her doctoral and fellowship training, Dr. Hinrichs is using mixed methods to promote the uptake of evidence-based interventions into clinical practice by evaluating novel implementation strategies and understanding the context in which they are employed. Her research agenda aims to blend her passions in education, workforce development, and implementation science to bridge the gap between research and practice in rehabilitation.

As a member of Physical Therapy program faculty, Dr. Hinrichs will be involved in teaching the musculoskeletal rehabilitation curriculum, foundational courses, and applied exercise science. Her goal is to thread an exercise and movement prescription curriculum beginning in foundational courses, spanning through clinical courses, and terminating in the applied exercise science course. She will also continue to collaborate with other University of Colorado research faculty to advance her research agenda and consult on qualitative and mixed-methods.
