VA Utilization Profile 2016
VA’s delivers a wide array of benefits and services to eligible Veterans, dependents and survivors to help ease the transition from the military to civilian life and to improve quality of life. This profile highlights these programs, which are overseen by three administrations: Veterans Health Adminitration (VHA), Veterans Benefits Administration, (VBA) and National Cemetery Administration (NCA). VHA, provides Health Care and Pharmacy, VBA, provides Compensation and Pension disability benifits, Education Assistance, Life Insurance, Vocational Rehabilitation/employment services, and Home Loan Guaranty assistance. NCA provides memorial benefits including graves, markers, flags, medallions and burial allowances.
Definition of Healthcare Priority Groups
Today’s Veterans have a comprehensive medical benefits package, which VA administers through an annual patient enrollment system. The enrollment system is based on priority groups to ensure health care benefits are readily available to all enrolled Veterans. Learn more »

The infographic also provides key statistics on how VA's National Cemetery Administration memorializes Veterans.
VA released Veteran Population InfographicThe Veteran Population Projection Model process includes blending data from various data sources to produce Veteran counts at the national, state and below state levels for certain demographics. It includes projecting the number of Veteran records out into the future for 30-years. The projeced Veteran population is both declining in number and becoming more evenly distributed in age. Whereas the annual change for the total Veteran population is -1.8 percent per year and the male Veteran population is -2.2 percent per year, the annual change to the female Veteran population is +0.6 percent per year.
