Research Interests
I am a practicing cardiac electrophysiologist and a clinical researcher focused on preventing and treating heart rhythm disorders and preventing sudden cardiac death. I have 15 years of experience implanting and programming cardiac devices such as pacemakers and defibrillators. I have published more than 130 peer-reviewed articles in high impact journals, including JAMA. My research is highly cited and frequently chosen for presentation at international scientific meetings. On two occasions, my publications were featured in the New York Times for the general public. I have mentored more than 30 trainees and junior faculty. These contributions have been recognized by the UMN Internal Medicine and Cardiology programs by multiple teaching awards.
