Research Compliance

The Minneapolis VA has one full-time Research Compliance Officer (RCO) and one Privacy Officer (PO) supporting research. These staff are under the supervision of the facility Director. While not formally a part of our Research Service, our RCO and PO work closely with our Research leadership and oversight committees to ensure that our program meets all applicable ethical and legal standards. The RCO and PO meet regularly with the Associate Chief of Staff for Research (ACOS), Deputy ACOS, HRPP coordinator, and RDC chair. They serve as non-voting consultants to our oversight committees, and work with committee personnel and coordinators to prepare reports to the facility Director and to applicable external oversight bodies. The RCO and PO conduct periodic reviews of our approved research projects to identify and correct potential noncompliance issues. Their close involvement in our operations strengthen the integrity of our research program.
