New Supervisor Essentials
New Supervisory Essentials (NSE) is one of two courses in VA’s Supervisor Training Program that assists supervisors in improving their leadership and management skills. NSE provides a strong first step toward building supervisory and leadership capabilities of new VA supervisors. It is competency-aligned training that aims to help supervisors improve performance, productivity, and employee satisfaction within their team and the organization. All course content and activities are completed in VA’s Talent Management System (TMS).
NSE meets OPM requirements and complies with federal mandates (5 CFR 410.201) for new supervisor training. Per OPM guidance in 5 CFR Part 412, supervisors must complete this training within one year of appointment.
