Empowering Veteran-Owned Business Success

VA SMALL AND VETERAN BUSINESS PROGRAMS

Empowering Veteran-Owned Business Success

At the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Small & Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU), we put Veterans first—championing economic opportunities for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSB) and Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (VOSB) through proactive federal procurement. Our unwavering commitment to expanding direct access and maximizing participation for Veterans in government contracts sets us apart as a national leader.

This dedication gets results: VA earned an “A” on the U.S. Small Business Administration’s FY 2024 Procurement Scorecard, reaffirming our leadership and enduring commitment to helping Veteran entrepreneurs prosper through federal contracting.

👇Here is how we delivered:

🏆Prime Contracting Highlights

  • $10.2B or 23% of total prime contract dollars to SDVOSB, far exceeding the 5% statutory goal and VA’s internal goal of 15%
  • 2,300+ SDVOSB firms received awards, reflecting a 3% increase in participation over the prior year.
  • $8.4B+ or 19.54% awarded through SDVOSB set-asides reinforces our Vets First commitment.

🔧Subcontracting Successes

  • $9.7B or 31.88% of total subcontracting dollars to small businesses, nearly doubling its subcontracting goal of 17.5%.
  • First time VA has exceeded its target since FY 2021.
  • WOSB subcontracting rose by more than two percentage points, from 1.73% in FY 2023 to 4.19% in FY 2024.
