Whole Health For Life
Advancing Complementary and Integrative Health
Across the country, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has been expanding complementary and integrative health (CIH) treatments for Veterans in recent years. CIH treatments promote self-healing and complement traditional medical approaches to support Veterans on their path to health and well-being The Veteran’s Health Administration’s (VHA) Office of Patient Centered Care and Cultural Transformation (OPCC&CT) has formed an Integrative Health Coordinating Center to support clinical standardization, business processes, policy development and the further expansion of these approaches throughout VA.
To learn more about CIH treatments you may view the VA STAR Well-Kit, a web-based toolkit for learning about wellness practices and integrative health tools for Veterans. This toolkit features Veterans describing their experiences of how integrative health tools and techniques have helped enhance their lives. You may also follow along with brief demonstrations of various practices. The STAR Well-Kit was created by the VHA’s War Related Illness and Injury Study Center (WRIISC) with funding and support from the OPCC&CT. We encourage you to start with this 16 minute Introduction.
For more information related to CIH services in your area, contact your local VA Medical Center.
